Many golf course and resort businesses rely heavily on domestic and international travelers, so the NGCOA created the NGCOA Golf & Travel Initiative to better serve this vital sector of our industry.
We also recognized that to be the most effective, we must engage with the U.S. Travel Association, the organization widely known as America's travel authority. Jay Karen, NGCOA's CEO, serves on the U.S. Travel's Board of Directors; this engagement ensures that our industry priorities are included in any national travel policy.
TRAVEL ADVOCACY
U.S. Travel is the tip of the spear for pro-travel public policy and advocacy work for the travel industry. A crucial part of the organization's advocacy effort is marketing travel opportunities within the U.S. to international visitors. VisitTheUSA.com is a primary digital asset maintained by the federal government and golf is mostly absent from the activities it promotes. One of our objectives is to ensure our industry is better represented on this site and in other marketing efforts.
Another essential function of U.S. Travel is its advocacy efforts in Washington. An industry that generates $2.5 trillion in economic output and supports over 15.8 million American jobs wields tremendous clout on Congress' floors. Having a seat on U.S. Travel's board will provide NGCOA members a gateway to enhance inclusion of our public policy issues within the association's larger message.
As we move forward, we will be sharing industry updates, materials and news on issues impacting golf and travel.
