The “Personal Health Investment Today” (PHIT) Act gives Americans the option of using pre-tax medical funds to help pay for physical activities to promote health. By expanding the IRS definition of a medical expense to include physical activity, including golf, as a form of prevention, the PHIT Act lowers consumer costs and increases participation. Studies consistently show that cost is a primary barrier to Americans becoming more physically active.This document provides key talking points being used to encourage support by our legislative leaders.
